Resolute Robotics requires a once-off purchase, and more than one child can use the materials included in the kit. In the premium version, students are grouped and are assigned a facilitator for the entirety of the course. The premium course also includes weekly webinars throughout the year as well as the opportunity to enter competitions (please see the table below for the differences between the two offerings).

Overview

Learners will focus on creating and building real-world projects such as an automated hand sanitiser and a home automation system. The beginner course for Grades 7 – 9 starts with an introduction to Arduino and fundamentals of circuit theory where learners will learn about sensors, processing real-world data, and automation. Learners will be able to transfer and test their knowledge and skills by building engineering-based projects such as:

  • An automated hand sanitiser: learners will learn to install an infrared sensor which is used to detect a hand, after which electronic circuitry (such as relays and buck converters) are used to control the water pump to release a few drops of sanitiser onto the hand.
  • A home automation system: learners can challenge themselves by applying their programming and engineering skills to design and build a home automation system that automates everyday tasks. Learn about servo motors, temperature and infrared sensors, fans, buzzers, lighting, and security systems.

Learners will then conclude the course by learning the fundamentals of Python game development – learners will learn to build games such as tic-tac-toe, tennis, and hangman. Students will also learn about concepts such as variables, program flow, debugging, loops, and functions using a lightweight application called VS Code.

  3. Access the Resolute Robotics online platform to watch instructional videos (the platform also includes a Q&A portal, should you get stuck).
  4. Complete the programme and receive a certificate of completion and a letter of recommendation.
